Reiki    

Universal Life Force

Reiki is a Japanese word that means “universal life-force energy”. According to the International Center for Reiki Training, Reiki is described as a Japanese technique that is administered for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It originated not too long ago, about 100 years ago by Mikao Usui. It was later brought to the U.S. (Hawaii) by Hawayo Takata Sensei, and since then it has been passed from Master to student. Reiki practitioners place their hands on the client’s body (or nearby) using specific positions and symbols. During a Reiki session, the practitioner helps the client increase their life force energy and balance their mind, body and spirit. As our life force energy increases, we are less likely to feel sick or stressed and more likely to feel vibrant, healthy and happy. 

Administering Reiki is practiced by those trained and certified. Reiki practitioners could also become Reiki masters, which essentially requires further training and allows one to teach Reiki to others. With consent, Reiki can be administered or sent to anyone in person, or at a distance anywhere anytime (and yes this means in the future as well). Reiki can be administered to people, animals, plants, foods, water, places, things and even situations. 

One of the greatest advantages of Reiki is that it can do no harm or have any negative consequences as its benefits remain during the time or for the time it is being administered. It is a simple yet powerful healing modality that is safe and effective which helps us heal and be balanced. Combined with other more traditional therapies, Reiki is a great compliment to promote mental, physical and spiritual health.
